PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE (PRO) PORTFOLIO

Public Relations (PR) is about managing reputation. A Public Relations Officer (PRO) represents an organization as the face that the media sees. The PRO communicates key messages, to a defined target audience in order to establish and maintain goodwill and understanding between an organization and its public.

The organisation has an open door policy and strongly encourages members of the public to contribute their time and effort in the pursuance of community service. You can make a difference. Let us together walk in the steps for a better tomorrow.

 TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

 The role is very varied and will depend on the organization. Tasks often involve:

  • planning, developing and implementing PRO strategies;
  • liaising with colleagues and key individuals
  • liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations’, using means as necessary
  • researching, writing / help writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
  • devising and coordinating events and opportunities;
  • fostering community relations through events

A PRO is responsible for communicating information about the organization to the community. The PRO’s job involves creating publications that the community or members of organizations will read, as well as creating and generating interest in the activities of the organisation.

FOCUS AREAS:

  • Network with Committee’s within RKVS – a key focus area
  • Arrange and network with media partners
  • News Paper – Lenasia Times / Rising Sun
  • Radio – East Wave Radio / Lenz FM
  • Monthly articles & possibly monthly interviews on Radio
  • Promote Activities
  • Align to Hindu Initiative’s – Individuals and Organisations that are promoting Hindu Dharma
  • Build Relationships with other organisations – keep them informed about our events / activities i.e. Consulates, Government Offices, Political Affiliates, Organisations, Families, Businesses, Individuals,
  • Attend Public Meetings and make constructive Comments
  • Outreach Programmes and Events targeting Youth e.g. Youth Convention
  • Arrange Speakers / Groups and Organisations to enhance RKVS activities
  • All media related information need to be centralised / channelled through the Team
